“Divination is an active conversation between the worlds on behalf of another; the crossroads where nature, community, ancestors and spirit allies join together for the purpose of offering a more trans-generational and spiritually diagnostic understanding of the situation at hand to activate memory, healing and connection in both worlds. The elementals are the active ingredients that enable these rituals to deliver the medicinal potency in effecting change. The Ancestors and other helping spirits assist the middle world in the chorography and precision of timing.”

Intuitively Guiding Others Through Cowry Shell Divination.

Divination is an empowering way to examine what is going on in your life as it relates to your personal medicine and your relationship to ancestors, spirit and community, forming a deeper sense of personal identity and belonging within your life. Kedar Brown will be your teacher for this training. Kedar learned this particular method of divination from Initiated Malidoma Somé in 2003. This process provides a powerful tool for divining into the questions and concerns of others. Unlike many types of “readings” where the focus is just on offering insight and perspective into your life, this form of divination focuses on offering you specific prescriptive ritual actions to take to address the concerns at hand.

How Will I Use This Skill?

As a Cowry Shell Diviner you will add to your medicine bag of offerings this deeply empowering method of assisting others in examining their life as it relates to their personal medicine and their relationship to the ancestors, spirit and to the greater community (human and non-human), providing a deeper connection to healing, personal identity and belonging for living a more inspired, purpose-focused life. You will learn the diagnostic form and function of cowry shell divination along with how to offer relevant and specific ritual prescriptions through the use of elemental medicine (fire, water, earth, mineral, nature & wind). You will also learn to address unresolved ancestral patterning and trauma, clearing of unwanted energies and restoring of right relationship to the natural world.

Walking, I am listening to a deeper way.
Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me.
Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are
the result of love of thousands.
— Linda Hogan (b.1947) Native American writer

“From an indigenous perspective, the individual psyche can be healed only by addressing one’s relationship with the visible worlds of nature and community and one’s relationship with the invisible forces of the ancestors and spirit allies. It is in ritual that nature, community, and the spirit world come together to support the inner building of identity.”
— Elder, Malidoma Patrice Some´
